In the Nuclear Analyses Department, a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers works on computational demonstrations for the safe management of radioactive waste. Modern calculation methods and programs are used to perform:

• Inventory analyses
• Shielding analyses
• Criticality safety analyses
• Analyses of the retention of radioactive substances and their dispersion in the environment (radiology)

To meet the high demands of these analyses, the department's employees participate regularly in training for the calculation programs used, present their work results at national and international conferences, contribute to national and international expert committees, and participate in international benchmark projects.

The department performs all nuclear analyses, design calculations and proofs for the various container types of the GNS Group (e.g. CASTOR^® and MOSAIK^®). Additionally, the department supports operators of nuclear power plants, spent fuel interim storage facilities and companies involved in final disposal, both domestically and internationally, with the development of concepts, analyses and calculations for the safe management of their radioactive waste.
