WTI represents the fields of nuclear and thermal calculations within the GNS Group in the context of container development and also offers demanding calculation services in the nuclear sector for customers outside the GNS Group.

The core competence of WTI's calculation departments is the nuclear and thermal design of containers for the transport, interim storage, and final disposal of radioactive waste, as well as the preparation of safety assessments for the corresponding approval and licensing procedures using specially developed and experimentally validated calculation methods.

The main focuses of the Nuclear Calculations Department are inventory characterization and the performance of computational analyses for criticality safety, shielding, and radiology. The main focuses of the Technical Calculations Department are the performance of numerical calculations with FE and CFD for safe heat dissipation, fire simulations, and analyses of fuel element behavior.
